Blue Past You

Nursing school continues to get closer and closer.
This week I spent time getting ready for school not only by 'having fun,' but also by buying books and taking tests.

  Thursday of this week I spent all day in Pembroke, taking my TEAS test and then completing a CPR course to gain the needed certification for my future schooling. To celebrate these successes, I made a chocolate pudding pie!  Please note that his pie is not instant; if you have never had cooked pudding before, then you are missing out and you must GO NOW and buy some 'Cook 'N Serve' pudding (preferably chocolate), cook it, chill it in the fridge, and eat it, whether in pie form or just out of a bowl.  This has to be my number one dessert, and my granny knows that I can never turn it down; good thing she doesn't make it too often!

Color Run
Can you say 'highlight of my summer'? Don't worry, I have a lot more adventures coming, but so far, this was the party of the year.

A couple months back, I asked a bunch of my friends to join me in the color run.  To start the party weekend, on Friday, I went to lunch with Bianca, a dear friend I have known since we were little tots running around in pre-K, then to Kohls to pick up our Color Run Garb; we each got a shirt, sweatband, rub-on tattoos, a race number, and some other little doo-dads.  I was most excited for the metallic tattoo.
One of my friends back from the 'Broke was interested in doing the color run, and since she lives a good ways away, we planned for her to spend the night at my house.
I got up a little earlier than normal for a Saturday morning, but I couldn't go back to sleep for the 15 more minutes my alarm clock would have allowed me because I was so excited.  I put on all white; white color run t shirt, white shorts, white ankle socks (which looked SO weird since I am always wearing black crew socks!), AND last but not least, my white tutu.  {You will be happy to know that despite all the color, my mom has managed to return most of my white garments back to their original colors!}
My sister so generously drove Lauren and me to the Crown Coliseum and dropped us off so we wouldn't have to worry about parking and getting little Lucy all colored up after the run.
Us two little musketeers entered at our own risk into the fierce battleground of the famous Color Run.  We grabbed some water to pre-hydrate and found Bianca, my running partner for the day.
I couldn't wait for nine o'clock to come; I wasn't ever this excited to run.  There was a wave every five minutes, and our little group ended up in the third wave; 9:10 START TIME.
Our 'running buddies' situation worked out perfectly! We both thought the other was going to act like a professional marathon runner, however, Bianca set about the same running pace I did; I was thankful for her since she kept me motivated to run/jog the whole distance. #TeamLizAnca
9:43 FINISH TIME
TIME: 33 minutes
Not too shabby, but always room to improve! {I am not a runner.}
Everyone received medals, which turned out to be a good prop in our 'after-run' pictures.  The actual run is not what turned us into mobile chalk monsters; after the running portion of the morning, my face had a few sparkles, and one could determine between the different colors on my white outfit. For Bianca and me, it wasn't until we got our hands on the color run chalk packets that we started turning unnatural colors.

I left in the back of my dad's truck wishing I could do the day all over again, but wanting to get the greens and blues out of my sinuses and feeling nap-time right after pee-time.  Thank you dad, for leaf-blowing the chalk out of our hair and making our scrubbing duties in the shower just a little easier.

Thanks to everyone who was apart of my day.  I am not a runner, but I would like to get as close to one as I can get! Breathing in {chalk} colors may not sound like fun but these crazies whom I got to spend some time with today made even wheezing out the glitter-dust a blast.  Dancing and throwing colors around till we all turn brown was never this fun, so seriously, thanks for all the pictures, videos, dancing, and color-attacking; I had a blast!
