Attitude is Everything

Hatred is not of God.
If you are not a disciple of Jesus, then you may believe these words do not apply to you.  Yet, what is a life filled with hatred and negativity? A lifestyle and attitude filled with anger carried out through aggression and violence - who does that really affect?
Why of course, it affects those around the aggressive and violent individual, but more so, it affects the individual themselves.  Harboring hatred in the heart of any human being results in a defeating attitude.
Your attitude is your own worst enemy.
Your attitude, something that seems so trivial, can make you or break you.  How can something so seemingly inconsequential 'make you or break you,' you may ask? Well lets take the example of a girl who was told once that she would not be able to graduate with her class because of a situation that was out of her control.  She could have succumbed to the attitude of defeat; she could have let go and given up.  Anxiety and worry filled her heart but she did not let the negative thoughts destroy her determination.  This determination fueled by her attitude is what enabled her to get where she is now; a little but of the right attitude, and a whole lot of God the answer to the question, "How are you able to graduate on time?"

An attitude of positivity, joy, and happiness versus the harboring of hatred and negativity -- which individual would you rather be around?  With which attitude would you want to surround yourself?

Harboring anger and hatred and negative attitudes are so destructing to you as an individual.  Maybe keeping hold of these negative attitude is a pride thing; sometimes it can be hard to let go of anger and malice because it requires forgiveness and humility.  But trust me, when you let go of these defeating and destroying parts of your heart, you become a whole new person -- you become a happy person, a joyful person, a thankful person.
It is so freeing - so refreshing.

 We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
{1 John 4:19-21}

Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
{1 John 2:9-11}

 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
{James 1:19-20}

A joyful heart is good medicine,    but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
{Proverbs 17:22}
